September 2024
Summer School ‘the stories we tell’ was an enriching journey of listening to the stories of others, of seeking and understanding our own story. We laughed and we cried and we came away changed.
We reflected on how our stories shape and misshape us and tell of who we are. How they provide meaning to our lives and help us understand how our humanity fits within the universal story of God.
We listened to the story of Pauli Murray and we were moved by the story of the Gresford mining tragedy. We made connections with our present and our past that will shape our future ministries.
For we know story is at the very heart of our faith. As disciples we are called to tell of the Gospel, but to do so authentically we must first know our own; as we live, study and learn together at Sarum College our spirit is nourished by being part of each others story.
Through Summer School, we had the invaluable opportunity to engage with the stories of others, reflect on our own story, and better inhabit the vocation of walking alongside those we serve.
What a privilege it was to share story with my friends at Sarum. Summer School very much reminded me that, in the end, and at the end, we are all loved by a God who is intimately present in our stories, here and now.
