Booking is now open for this year’s Retreat Association conference, Living with Courage: Clasping hands across a divided landscape. The 27-29 June conference will explore this theme through a variety of talks, workshops, discussion groups and worship – all live-streamed from The Royal Foundation of St Katharine.
The impressive line-up of speakers include Sarum College Principal James Woodward who will offer two workshops on the subjects of ageing and end of life. In these sessions, he will facilitate deeper reflection on the spiritual dimension of ageing as workshop participants explore together the nature of spiritual need in third and fourth age.
‘The Retreat Association has a national reputation for exploring Christian spirituality and I am delighted to be taking part in the June conference,’ he said, ‘As we emerge out of the pandemic I shall be looking at what it might mean to “befriend” death and how the consideration of our mortality opens up new and generative spiritual horizons. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this conference and look forward to learning with and from the participants.’
Other contributors include theologians Dr Jane Shaw, a member of the Sarum College Board of Trustees, as well as Pádraig O Tuama, Dr Rachel Mann and Dr Gillian Straine, all of whom are Visiting Scholars at Sarum College.
The conference dates are 27-29 June 2022; one-day tickets are available and the Retreat Association is offering bursaries to those on a lower income.
