Leading in Practice course

Join Dr Eve Poole OBE and the Rt Revd Stephen Lake, Bishop of Salisbury, as they engage in conversation about the challenges and joys of leading in the church and the world in the twenty-first century. Bishop Stephen is also Deputy Chair of the Church Commissioners, and first met Eve when she was Third Church Estates Commissioner and he was the Dean of Gloucester.

An informal evening that will offer plenty of space for those attending to ask questions.

Drinks will be available for purchase from the bar.

An opportunity to spend some time at Sarum College reflecting on leadership in the twenty-first century world and church, as well as honing your own leadership practice.

The retreat package includes the Collaborative Leadership Study Day with Nick Shepherd and Katy Lyne on Monday 18 November, the Leading in Practice Fireside Chat with the Bishop of Salisbury and Eve Poole OBE on the evening of Monday 18 November and the Leadersmithing Study Day with Eve Poole OBE on Tuesday 19 November. This stay will also include space for personal reflection and the opportunity to wander over to Salisbury Cathedral for Morning Prayer and Eucharist.

Disability Theology: Theory and Practice

Peter Butchers on his MA in Theology, Imagination and Culture student experience

How do cultural tropes, like those found in Black Mirror, help bridge the gap between what academic theology espouses and what the everyday Christian believes? In his research as a student on the MA in Theology, Imagination and Culture, Peter Butchers explored platonic philosophy, digital theology and eschatology, and pastoral practice around death and dying.

Rewarding Sabbatical Stay

The Revd Greg Syler, is Rector of Ascension & St. George’s, Resurrection Parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, DC USA, spent part of his ministry sabbatical at Sarum College in spring 2022.

His account of the experience begins: ‘I loved spending nearly three weeks of my ministry sabbatical at Sarum College earlier this year.

Not only did I rest, and rest well in the comfortable care of the Sarum College staff, I experienced very significant renewal and fresh insights.’
